After two decades of closure for big-cat research, the eastern Serengeti is now open to tourists, boasting a remarkable concentration of predators. Asilia has been entrusted as its steward since 2014, offering guests the chance to experience this incredible corner of the Serengeti from the comfort of Namiri Plains, a cool and elegant camp. Featuring 11 spacious tents, each with its own veranda and outdoor bath, the camp provides an ideal vantage point for observing wildlife gathering at the nearby seasonal riverbed. From July 2023, two additional retreats cater to families or groups seeking more space and exclusivity, offering en-suite bedrooms, a central lounge and deck, along with a private chef and safari guide with vehicle for a personalized safari experience. During 'The Great Migration', the plains burst into life as vast herds move south to calve, attracting predatory big cats. With the nearest neighbor over an hour's drive away, guests can relish the feeling of having the eastern Serengeti all to themselves.
